An online learning event hosted by Alcohol Change UK
09:30 to 13:10, Thursday 11 July 2024
Alcohol and domestic abuse often go hand in hand; and effective collaboration between alcohol treatment services and domestic abuse support services is essential to reduce harm.
At this online learning event, we’ll be exploring the complex relationship between alcohol and domestic abuse, and helping workers in both fields to understand what they can do to understand needs and identifty solutions.
Speakers include:
- Liz Gilchrist and Gail Gilchrist, discussing how alcohol treatment services can work safely and effectively with men who perpetrate intimate partner violence
- Carie Bower, on domestic abuse amongst older people
- Tina Fahm, on making domestic abuse support relevant and accessible for black and minoritised women
- Mark Brooks, on supporting male victims of domestic abuse
There will also be structured small group sessions to enable workers in the alcohol and domestic abuse sectors to work together on the issues.
